The Journal of Islamic Banking, Economics and Policy (JIBEP) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and scholarly rigor. All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo a structured double-blind peer review process, which ensures impartiality, confidentiality, and fairness in the evaluation of submitted work.
In a double-blind system, both the reviewers and the authors remain anonymous throughout the review process. This practice eliminates potential bias and allows for a more objective assessment based solely on the academic merit of the manuscript.
🔄 Initial Editorial Screening
Upon submission, all manuscripts are first reviewed by the editorial office to ensure that they meet the journal’s scope, submission criteria, formatting guidelines, and ethical standards. Submissions that do not comply with the journal’s basic requirements may be returned to the authors without further review.
Manuscripts passing the initial screening are forwarded to at least two qualified reviewers with expertise in the relevant subject area.
🧠 Reviewer Selection and Responsibilities
Reviewers are selected based on their academic background, subject expertise, and experience in scholarly publishing. Each reviewer is expected to evaluate the manuscript for its originality, methodological soundness, theoretical contribution, clarity, relevance to the field, and adherence to ethical research practices.
Reviewers provide a written evaluation and make a recommendation to either:
- Accept the manuscript with or without revisions
- Request major or minor revisions
- Reject the manuscript
All evaluations are reviewed by the editorial team before a final decision is communicated to the authors.
📅 Timeline
JIBEP aims to complete the initial peer review within 4 to 6 weeks from the date of reviewer assignment. Authors will be informed of the decision along with anonymized reviewer comments and revision instructions, if applicable.
For revised submissions, the editorial team may send the manuscript back to the original reviewers or may conduct an internal editorial review depending on the nature of the changes.
📬 Decision and Post-Review
Once a manuscript has successfully passed peer review and any necessary revisions are completed, the editorial board makes the final publication decision. Accepted papers proceed to the copyediting and layout stage before publication in an upcoming issue.
Authors are expected to respond to reviewer feedback respectfully and thoroughly. Failure to revise or communicate within the given timeframe may result in withdrawal from the review process.
🔐 Confidentiality and Ethics
All submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents. Reviewers are required to maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript and are prohibited from using or disclosing its content prior to publication. Reviewers must also disclose any conflicts of interest that could influence their evaluation.
The journal follows the ethical review and editorial policies recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in the peer review process.
