Author Guidelines

The Journal of Islamic Banking, Economics and Policy (JIBEP) welcomes original, unpublished manuscripts that make a significant contribution to scholarship and practice in the fields of Islamic banking, Islamic finance, Islamic economics, and public policy. To maintain academic integrity and a smooth editorial workflow, authors must follow the guidelines detailed below before submitting their manuscripts for review.

Scope of Submissions

JIBEP accepts a variety of scholarly works, including research articles, conceptual analyses, policy studies, and case-based evaluations. Submissions should address theoretical frameworks, empirical findings, or practical implementations that fall within the journal’s interdisciplinary focus on Islamic finance and economic development. Manuscripts that explore the intersection of Islamic economic principles with contemporary challenges, ethical finance, and regulatory frameworks are particularly encouraged.

Originality and Exclusivity

All manuscripts must be the author’s original work and must not be under consideration or review by any other publication at the time of submission. Authors are required to affirm the exclusivity of their work at the time of submission. Each manuscript undergoes a plagiarism screening and ethical compliance check as part of the editorial screening process.

Language and Academic Style

Manuscripts must be written in fluent, scholarly English. Authors are expected to present complex ideas with academic precision and clarity, avoiding informal or promotional language. Submissions should adhere to a formal academic tone, using consistent structure and citation practices throughout the text.

Length, Structure, and Page Limit

The standard manuscript length for JIBEP is up to 15 A4 pages, excluding the title page. This includes all main text, tables, figures, references, and appendices. Authors are encouraged to keep their submissions concise, yet sufficiently detailed to convey their research objectives and findings.

  • The submission fee is £200 for manuscripts up to 15 pages.
  • For manuscripts exceeding this limit, an additional £15 per page will be charged.

All manuscripts must include the following components:

  • Title
  • Abstract (150–250 words)
  • Keywords (4–6 terms)
  • Introduction
  • Literature Review
  • Methodology (where applicable)
  • Findings and Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • References (APA 7th edition)
  • Appendices (if necessary)

Each page must be formatted according to the specifications listed in the Manuscript Formatting Guide.

Referencing Style

JIBEP uses the APA (7th Edition) referencing system. Authors must ensure that both in-text citations and the reference list adhere strictly to APA guidelines. All references must be accurate, complete, and consistently formatted.

Ethical Standards and Disclosure

JIBEP adheres to the ethical standards set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors must disclose any funding sources, conflicts of interest, or ethical approvals related to their research. Manuscripts involving human participants or sensitive data must include appropriate ethical clearance documentation.

Submissions found to include plagiarism, falsified data, or unethical research practices will be immediately rejected and may result in a formal report to the author’s institution.

Submission Format

Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) or PDF format via the journal’s official submission portal. The main manuscript must be anonymized for double-blind peer review. A separate title page containing the full names, affiliations, and email addresses of all authors should be uploaded as a supplementary file.

Submissions will not be processed without confirmation of the appropriate submission fee payment based on the page count.
